Business Continuity/Disaster Migration (BCDM) is the process of ensuring that your IT infrastructure can quickly be recovered following a “disaster” which may be a deleted file, a failed mail server or a complete loss of the server room.

  • Data Backup & Restore – Remotely backup email, database and file servers plus laptops and workstations
  • Recovery Site Hosting – Recover from complete site failure by hosting your servers at DS3
  • Customer Site Server Recovery – Recover from server failure on your LAN within minutes
  • Data LifeCycle Management & Discovery – Move data through a storage hierarchy

Services can be delivered either via a classic outsourced model (in the clouds) a turnkey solution at your site (in a customized box) or a customized hybrid of the two.

Storage

The latest version of the data is stored at your site within the DS3 DataVaulting Gateway.  You have the ability to determine how many versions of data are to be backed up.  All backed up data resides in our data vaults, which are located in secure at&t tier 1 data centers.

Recently, one online, offsite data backup and restore vendor lost data for 7500 customers because they used inferior storage solutions. To make matters worse (if that's possible), they did not inform their customers.

All of DS3's backed up data is stored on top-of-the-line SAN/NAS solutions that are highly redundant within the at&t data center. All hardware is from industry leading manufacturers who have built a rock solid reputation for reliability. Data is replicated from Ashburn, VA to Dallas, TX or Chantilly, VA to maintain geographic separation and redundancy.

While DS3 DataVaulting uses the best storage hardware available, they do not stop there. Their software continuously monitors and “self-heals” the data so that restorability is never in question.

Security

Physical – DS3 DataVaulting uses secure, state of the art  at&t data centers to house all its data. These data centers are staffed 24 hours a day with on-site guards, have reinforced concrete and steel infrastructures, and are equipped with interior/exterior CCTV monitoring and biometric entry security devices. In the customer environment, DS3 DataVaulting deploys an agent-less solution; eliminating security risks caused by loading software on target devices.

Data – DS3 DataVaulting encrypts all back-ups from the moment it leaves the customer site and keeps it encrypted at the DS3 Data Center. The encryption key is created, entered and maintained by you so that neither DS3 DataVaulting nor a malicious third party can ever access your original data. The encryption level can go up to AES-256, which is the government standard for encryption.

Restorability – DS3 DataVaulting continuously runs a series of server-side processes that check the integrity of all backed up data. Further, you can perform a manual or automated “validation request” that will access the backed up data, decrypt the data and compare the resulting digital signature versus the original file’s signature. These two client- and server-side security initiatives maintain data restorability.

Service

DS3 DataVaulting supports you with continuous Web-based and in-person training sessions, proactive monitoring of your backups and assurance of disaster recover, data backup and restore and compliance. Our 24 x 7 x 365 Technical Assistance Center (TAC) is always staffed by US based DS3 personnel to help you resolve any issues. If you ever feel like you are not getting the support you need, you can contact the offices of our Director of Client Development, an organization dedicated to maintain customer satisfaction.

Of course, the reason you perform data backups is to restore the data in case of emergencies (ranging from an accidentally deleted file to a full site disaster). While most restores can be handled by the customer through the intuitive GUI, DS3 supports your largest DR drills and emergencies by sending a technician(s) to your site or a third-party DR site. The TAC is always here to walk you through your most difficult restores.
